Jessica Wilson was born in Pakistan and moved to the United States at the age of eight. She graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a B.S. in Information Systems.
After starting her career in software engineering, Jessica noticed a lack of representation of women in the industry. This led her to volunteer with her employer’s annual event “Introduce a Girl to Engineering,” which later inspired her campaign, “Close the Engineering Gap.”
Through her Beauty with a Purpose platform, Jessica wishes to close the gender gap in engineering by: raising awareness about the underrepresentation of women in the industry, educating young girls about the different areas of engineering, encouraging girls to get involved in STEM at a young age, and providing professional development workshops to young women, college students and recent graduates to inspire future leaders.
As Miss World America, Jessica aspires to be a role model for young women and motivate them to pursue engineering as a career.
